Spark Core provides basic I/O functionalities, distributed task dispatching, and scheduling. Resilient Distributed Datasets (RDDs) are logical collections of data partitioned across machines. RDDs can be created by referencing datasets in external storage systems, or by applying transformations on existing RDDs.
